These Rae Dunn or Frozen 2 inspired homemade ornament craft for kids were created with products received from Oriental Trading. Although complimentary products were received, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
If you have been following me since 2014, then you know that I have enjoyed collaborating with Oriental Trading off and on even though I have been a huge fan of theirs for years. I love the variety of products they provide whether it is birthday decorations, educational toys, costumes for the entire family, or crafting supplies. They even have home décor that you can check out as well.
My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday today and we held a slumber party over the weekend. While thinking of activities to include, I decided on having the children make homemade ornaments. I didn't want anything too involved or messy, so we settled on these Rae Dunn or Frozen 2 inspired ornaments. The writing reminds me of Rae Dunn collection pieces while the inside reminds me of Frozen 2. I loved the idea of making ornaments for a winter slumber party because it was a great activity plus they got a little party favor to take home.
To re-create these super cute and easy ornaments, here are the supplies you will need:
- plastic clear globe ornaments
- fishing line
- faux craft snow
- Glittering Snowflake Shapes, Glitter Snowflake Embellishments, Snowflake Jewel Assortment, or Glitter Winter Pom-Poms (or all of the above)
- Winter Ornament Decal Sheets
- clear tape
What You Do:
1. Open your ornaments and place faux snow inside being careful not to over fill.
2. Fill with whatever other objects you would like to place inside, then close globe.
3. The stickers we ended up placing on individually. I tried to place the whole sticker on at first and then carefully take off the backing, but that had it pros and cons. They say different things like; stay cozy, winter mood, hello winter, let it snow, and warm wishes. They also come with a variety of sized snowflake stickers as well. Regardless of what method you use, then turned out great. some of the kids chose to only use one word like cozy or warm.
4. Make sure to apply clear tape on the edges of the plastic globe. If these drop on hard floor they will pop open. You can't see the clear tape, but you could also glue them together with hot glue if you'd like although I feel this may make it a little more complicated.
5. Then tie fishing line through top hole. You could also just put a hook in the top if you prefer.
Each year on Christmas Eve, we wait for my husband to get off work so we can open presents and eat dinner with his side of the family. We like to do crafts while we wait and I think this one will be perfect. This is also an easy DIY gift idea for your kids to give.
