5 Tips for a Healthier Halloween

Check out these tooth-friendly tips for a cavity-free Halloween!

1. Check out products with xylitol as an alternative to sugary treats!
2. Hand out sugar-free candy to trick-or-treaters. You are still giving them a sweet treat, but without the cavities!
3. Host a Halloween party for a good cause benefitting a children’s charity. Everyone can bring a dollar for the charity and a healthy dish to eat at the party.
4. Dress up as the Tooth Fairy and give out multi-colored toothbrushes instead of candy this year.
5. For a healthy smile year-round, remember to brush and floss twice a day and visit your dentist once every six months! For children ages 6 and up, use a fluoride rinse.

Help Out the Tooth Fairy this Halloween
She can't do it alone!

It is hard to believe, but there are MILLIONS of at-risk kids that can't sleep at night, eat properly or even concentrate in school because of painful tooth decay. Without the financial resources for dental care or even a toothbrush or toothpaste, many of these kids find themselves caught in a downward spiral of pain and humiliation that affects them well into their adult lives. Tooth decay is preventable, yet it continues to hurt our most vulnerable children.

What is your favorite Halloween treat?

We received her Minnie Mouse costume free from Wholesale Costume Club back in April. Everyone absolutely LOVED her costume. They thought she was adorable and when I told them where I got, I felt confident because of the quality, price, and ease of ordering.

Surviving Fall Allergies with #FiltreteFilters

I received free products in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

My family and I are allergy sufferers. If you read my blog regularly, then you already know that my daughter and I suffer the most. And since we stay at home more often and are stuck in the house more during the wintertime, controlling the airborne particles in our house is so important. Did you know that you can experience allergies year-round? You may notice watery eyes and runny noses more in the Spring and Fall. Experts are predicting that the 2013 allergy season to last longer this year, well into October and November, depending on the climate where you live. Earlier this year, CNN listed the Top 10 Worst U.S. Cities for Allergy Sufferers – is your city on the list? Thankfully mine is not, but that doesn't mean I haven't noticed them acting up.
Some tips to help reduce in door allergens include washing bedding more frequently, removing shoes at the door, washing hands & face as soon as you come in door, and of course changing your air filters.

Surviving Fall Allergies with #FiltreteFilters

The Filtrete Healthy Living Filter captures up to 93 percent of airborne particles, like: pollen, smoke particles, pet dander, household dust, smog contamination, dust mite debris, lint, mold spores, bacteria, particles that can carry viruses (compared to basic pleated filters for the capture of 0.3 to 1.0 micron particles) from the air passing through the filter.

Make sure to check out this video on the importance of changing your filter:

About the Filtrete Healthy Living Filter, MPR 1900:
• Ideal for allergens and small particles like bacteria and virus.
• Captures up to 93 percent of large airborne particles, such as household dust, pollen, mold spores and dust mite debris, from the air passing through the filter
• Captures 4X times more microscopic particles, such as smoke, smog, pet dander and particles that can carry bacteria and viruses, than ordinary pleated filters*
• Last up to three months
• Find them at Lowe’s, Target, Walmart, Costco and your local hardware store; find a location near you by visiting FindMyFiltreteFilter.com.
