If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that we moved my son into his "big boy" bed. He was in a small toddler bed that has a mattress with next to no support. I love how his bed came together. The head and foot boards my mother-in-law bought at a yard sale, my sister-in-law gave us the box spring, we bought the bed rails and bed slats off Amazon, my mom bought his bedding for his birthday, and the mattress I was fortunate to get to review from Eight Sleep.
I have been intrigued about ordering a mattress that comes in a box for a while now. How does it unroll? Is it comfortable? Is it too soft and not firm? Will it actually be big enough for the bed? That last question was actually my first thought when we were unboxing this mattress. The box didn't seem like it was going to be able to hold a mattress that would fit his bed. You can see an unboxing video below of how it expands once opened.
As you can see, it is a foam mattress so it doesn't spring open and isn't dangerous when unpacking. Since I was looking into "box" mattresses, this was a question that was asked a lot. It is a very comfortable mattress. Both my husband and I have laid on it. I am actually a little jealous of how comfortable it is. We have a good mattress (don't get me wrong), but this one feels like it conforms to your body while still holding it's shape. My son has been sleeping great since he has moved into his new bed and tells us constantly how much he loves it. I love that he has a quality mattress now that can grow with him and his needs comfortably. Check out these LevTex Home quilts.
Since I received a twin size mattress to review, the sleep tracker pad isn't an option but you can find more info about the app HERE (it's FREE to download). My son doesn't particularly need that part right now anyways. The Sleep Tracker is a sensor layer that fits over any mattress and instantly turns your bed into a smart bed. Review your sleep data, use the dual zone warming feature for an extra cozy bed, and connect to almost any wifi-enabled device in your house. The sizes start at full. Since it can fit any mattress brand, I am considering getting one for my husband and I.
Why a Smart Mattress?
The Eight Smart Mattress includes features that improve the sleep experience, like automatic temperature control for each side of the bed, and connectivity with other smart home devices like thermostats, lights, and coffee machines. The mattress contains multiple sensors to track sleep times, deep and light sleep, breathing rate, and measure toss and turns, bed temperature, and room temperature. Over time, the Eight Smart Mattress uses machine learning to build patterns on sleep behaviors, and displays suggestions for sleep improvement in its mobile app. It can also share this data with health tracking apps like Apple’s Health and Google’s Fit.
Aw, what a cute little bed!! I bed he just LOVES it!! That mattress looks seriously amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the concept! I think it's great, the automatic temperature control is important because my Granddaughter sweats a lot and she then wake up and can't sleep. That in addition to the other measurements provides a great learning tool for other areas of the sleeping process. It's great!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a dream come true!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a mattress to go so well in the bed for your son.

Sounds like a great mattress, I'll definately keep it in mind when I start shopping for a new one.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very nice bed. It makes a real difference that it is comfortable, and one he feels good in. Moving to a 'real' bed is a huge change.
ReplyDeleteAmazing,,,awesome,,,must possess!!~! Zzzzzz
ReplyDeleteI love that the mattress game is changing so much! This looks awesome and he looks so happy in it! Our three year old daughter just moved into a twin but wants the bed on the floor. I'm okay with it because she still rolls out of it! :)
ReplyDeleteI think my son would love a mattress like this. We all have the older type inner spring mattresses and I think their time has come and gone. I know a couple people who have bought mattresses in a box and they love them.
