This past week my husband was on vacation from work so we decided very last minute to head to Cloudland Canyon State Park and go camping/hiking. It was a lot of fun that will get into more later, but it is a three hour drive up there. On the way home, we almost didn't give ourselves enough time to take my daughter to her dentist appointment where she had to get sealants on her back teeth. One of her front teeth had already been injured and then a boy at school accidentally knocked it loose so I wanted to get it checked out as well. Both top teeth were VERY loose, so they asked her if she wanted them to take the teeth out...

She said she did only if they had a special carrying case like the ones they had at school. Which I thought was just too funny. They said that it can take up to six months for her permanent teeth to come in. So she might just be singing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth."

She did have a little bit of pain because they did give her novocaine. The nurse said she would just sprinkle something on there and I thought that's what they would do too. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have let them do it. I should have asked exactly what they were going to do. They didn't charge us for an extraction and my daughter said she is very happy that she did it, so I guess that's okay. I did research what happens when a tooth is pulled too early though. The tooth fairy did give her the "Double Two Front Teeth Special" which was $1 for how old she is per tooth! The tooth fairy also left a note saying this was a special one-time occasion.

Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday! :D
The only way I let a dentist extract my kids' baby teeth was if they were impacted!
ReplyDeleteGod is so remarkable by giving us baby teeth before we get our permanent teeth!! I think He was grooming kids to learn how to take care of them and appreciate them for when they get older.
She takes excellent care of her teeth. We use to tell her that they would fall out if she didn't, which is why she was scared when the first two were loose. Then we explained about adult teeth and she learned about it in 3K, 4K, and Kindergarten. Like I said, I wouldn't do it again if I knew exactly what they were doing. I was her choice though and she was happy with it.
DeleteI didn't know dentists took teeth out if they were falling out...
ReplyDeleteI didn't either. Last time we were there and she had loose teeth, they didn't ask to take them out. But they asked and she wanted it done. I will never do it again though.
DeleteOh my gosh, that looks like my daughter's mouth right now. She had one very loose and it fell out. Then her and her sister were playing roughly and she ended up knocking the other one out.
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize it could be a problem if they are taken out too soon. Hopefully everything is okay
Everything is okay, it can just cause them unnecessary pain.
DeleteI love when they are missing their front teeth. I've never heard of a dentist taking them out before. I'm glad she was happy and the carrying case is too cute.
ReplyDeleteThat so different than what happened to my kids a while ago.
ReplyDeleteAw, precious smile. My youngest had his two front teeth come out, but the permanent teeth weren't breaking through the gums. They had to cut his gums open to get the teeth to come through. Thanks for linking up at Life at Rossmont.
ReplyDelete😬 I hope I don't have to worry about that.
