This post is part of a sponsored campaign for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.
For some reason kids just love playing with bubbles. Whatever a child likes about bubbles - the benefits speak through fine motor skills, sensory skills, oral motor skills, and the list goes on. I have a special bubble solution recipe as well as a super fun and easy bubble painting craft to celebrate Teletubbies' 20 Years of Big Hugs throughout 2017 and the release of their new TELETUBBIES: BUBBLES DVD.
What I love about this craft is that it was so easy and the kids enjoyed it. My son is three and still has a little trouble blowing bubbles, but practice makes perfect which can help him with his speech as well.
Make Your Own Bubble Solution: Record Winning Guar Gum Recipe
What You Need:
1.5 tablespoons guar gum powder
2-4 tablespoons rubbing alcohol (to make a guar slurry, before adding it to the water)
3 gallons of HOT tap water
2 tablespoons of baking powder
20 oz. Dawn Power Clean Platinum dish soap
What You Do:
In a large container add water and baking powder, mix until no lumps. Set aside. Measure guar gum and add enough rubbing alcohol to blend smooth. Start stirring water in bucket, when it's moving to see a slight funnel, pour the guar/alcohol slurry into it and continue to stir for a minute or two as it thickens. Then, gently mix in the dish soap (try to avoid foaming). Let mixture sit for about 15 minutes and you're done! For more info visit HERE.
DIY Bubble Painting Craft
Once solution is mixed (you can either use Bubble Solution to re-create this craft or buy your own), place in separate bowls with a few drops of different color food coloring in each one. You can also make your own bubble wands if you'd like, but we used store bought ones. Some people use straws, I didn't do this because I was worried my son would suck instead of blow. I also recommend either placing something down under the paper or taking this craft outside, the food coloring can stain if you don't clean up right away.
As I mentioned, Teletubbies is celebrating 20 years of big hugs and the release of their new DVD, TELETUBBIES: BUBBLES. Originally created in 1997, Teletubbies is one of the most successful global children's brands of all time. Targeted at young preschool viewers, it has reached over 1 billion children to date. The original episodes have aired in over 120 territories in 45 different languages! And the developmental benefits of Teletubbies speak volumes. I am so excited to share them with my children.
TELETUBBIES: BUBBLES arrives on DVD June 20 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and includes six ALL-NEW episodes featuring Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po as they sing, dance, play, and (of course) eat Tubby Custard! TELETUBBIES: BUBBLES includes two engaging featurettes. My kids loved following along to the classic "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" in the first one and learning all about the lovable yellow Teletubby name Laa-Laa.
This was actually both my kiddos first time ever watching the Teletubbies. They were enthralled the entire time and loved watching the lovable characters. My daughter is six and she said her favorite part was the sunshine baby. My son is three and he was so cute interacting with the screen and waving goodbye when they did too. My kids enjoyed them and I will continue to share these happy little characters with them for years to come.
Do you like Teletubbies? Have you shared them with the child in your life yet? Does you child like bubbles? What do you think of our craft?
