My husband asks me almost every night, are you coming to bed with me? And during the school year, I do. But it is summer. The kids are with me 24/7. And before they were in school? I didn't get that break. So the reason I don't go to bed when my husband does? Because I just want some me-time.
During the school year at the end of the day, no matter how many cups of coffee I have had, I'm tired at the end of the day. But during the summer, I don't have to worry about schedules or routines as much. But I do have to worry about keeping little ones entertained. All. Day. Long. I don't mind, I really don't! I love spending quality time with my children making crafts, going to the zoo, or going swimming. But I try to squeeze in me-time any way I can.
My friend who works (and has a pretty long commute) use to tell me how jealous she was of me because I got to stay home with my babies. I would tell her that I was jealous she got to listen to whatever music she wanted to in the car by herself for an hour everyday. We just agreed, "The grass is always greener..."
My husband is at place in his career now that he has more time to take off work. There are peak times where we don't see as often, but he still tries his best. So sometimes I get to sneak out for a Venti Mocha or a pedicure. But in the mean time, I'll stick to streaming "GirlBoss" or "Orange Is The New Black" while everyone else in the house is asleep and all is quiet because sneaking in stream time is much needed me-time for moms.
Netflix wants to know how you sneak in your streaming whether it is in the car pool lane, while you're getting ready in the morning, or staying a little too late like I do. Share your personal story or a selfie on social media with the hashtag #MomSneak, fill out the form below letting me know you did, and you could win SIX MONTHS of streaming. Giveaway open to US residents only and ends at July 31 at 11:59 PM EST.

DeleteI love to watch Netflix when I want to relax and unwind
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of the advice from "the best parenting parents" say to go to bed early and wake up before the house hold to get things done and have a moment to yourself but that has never ever worked for me. I am a night owl!
ReplyDeleteNetflix saves my sanity sometimes. I love binge-watching my favorite series.
ReplyDeleteYes!! The hubby and I stay up after the kids are in bed and watch Netflix every night and we may or may not eat junk food. haha!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that they have hit on this as a marketing thing; it's like the opposite of binge-watching. I see shows in 15-minute increments over days! I finally saw all of 'Orange is the New Black'.

I don't have Netflix, but I do love my me time! Even as an empty nester, I still need time away from the grandkids, the hubby, & even my furry friends at times! I need to hear myself think! And that glass of wine 🍷 is a grandma's little helper!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to late night Netflix binge watch!
ReplyDeleteI'm opposite my husband leaves the house at 5 am so I normally get up at six for me time. Usually about an hour and a half before my daughter. Love watching my shoes my husband doesn't like and waking up so I can work out when the pitter patter begins.
ReplyDeleteIt's not to take a break from the kiddie shows with a Netflix documentary. I'm a little obsessed with them.
ReplyDeleteI have Netflix but I have been bad at sneaking it in lately and haven't had time to watch in a couple months.
ReplyDeleteWe are loving Master Of None and Glow! Both excellent.
ReplyDeleteI can't outlast the people in my home, I go to bed earlier and sneak my Netflix and computer time in the morning hours.
ReplyDeleteI love sneaking in my time with Netflix while I work out on the elliptical or at night in bed (even though I tell them not to watch it before their bedtime!) lol
ReplyDeleteLove Netflix so much. Been catching up on the last 2 season's of Reign. I missed them live, so it's nice to be able to watch!
ReplyDeleteAt home I have Netflix on while I'm cleaning and pretty much every chance I get. I love their horror selection! Now that we're away for the summer it's been a lifesaver with the download-able movies for kids.
ReplyDeleteI work overnight, so I love to watch Netflix when I first wake up and before anyone else gets home. I recently binge watched Riverdale and cannot wait for the new season of that to come out.
ReplyDeleteI love watching netflix. I just finished OITNB
ReplyDeleteWe cut cable and don't miss it one bit, thanks to our Netflix subscription
ReplyDeleteMe time is so important! I had a friend that could never go to bathroom alone she always had 2 little girls, 2 cats and a dog. So you have to do it anyway that works for you. Me I like to get up early and watch the sun rise and drink my hot tea.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things I've done is subscribe to Netflix. I love watching series without seeing annoying commercials. It is my favorite way to unwind.
ReplyDeleteI love Netflix, it helps me relieve stress, get my mind off things.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs that "me time" and having 5 kids myself and being a single dad raising them, I can understand. We have Netflix and I can finally watch it once kids are in bed
ReplyDeleteI love Netflix, and I love having some me time, sometimes me time means going to bed very early in the early morning.
ReplyDeleteI can relate. The me-time, peace and tranquility are why I tend to stay up later than everyone else.
ReplyDeleteThe title of your post caught my attention! I was curious if we thought alike. Yes, we do! I think it's important, very important, to have ME time....even if you have to make it late night!
ReplyDeleteNice thanks for sharing
