I was looking through my Timehop and I was reminded that two years ago my husband and I really buckled down to start our weightloss journey. We made many lifestyle changes along the way and that has been the key to success. We watch what we eat more carefully and we make sure to get 30 minutes of cardio in daily. We are still learning what works for us and had to change up our routines because sometimes we would get in a plateau. It has been a process, but we are loving knowing that we are setting a better foundation for our children.
If you know me, then you know that I am going to try and monetize anything and everything. I use to extreme coupon and I still love using coupon and discount apps regularly. And through this journey I have found so many apps to help you make money while you are getting healthy.
The top two most efficient ways I have to actually MAKE MONEY for losing weight or getting healthy in general are StepBet and DietBet.
StepBet
About: "StepBet is a fitness game that motivates you to be more active. Players “bet” on themselves to meet their personalized step goals during every week of the game, and win money if they do. The cash prize, accountability, and community support help you build a more active lifestyle." You can join other's games or start your own.
Pros: You don't have to be losing weight to participate or make money. You just have to be willing to get your steps in. It calculates your goal based on your previous activity with two power days to push you a little bit. So everyone's goal is specific to them and not just one set amount.
Cons: You do have to have an activity tracker of some sort. Fitbit, Garmin, and Apple Health (can use your phone) are the ones that are currently allowed.
DietBet
About: "A dietbet is a contest to lose 4% of your starting weight in a set amount of time. Players all bet money into the pot at the outset of the game. Winners split the pot. A Kickstarter is a dietbet where players compete to lose 4% of their starting weight in 28 days." You can join games or start your own. I joined one I found on Instagram.
Pros: If you make your goal of losing 4%, then you will guarantee make your money back.
Cons: The closer to your goal weight you get, then it will be harder to lose 4%. But this is still a great motivator if you are starting out. My husband said it could be possible for someone to fake their scale results, but I don't see how this could be possible.
Achievement
About: "Achievement is a service that pays you for tracking your healthy behaviors, such as diet and exercise, water intake and the amount of sleep you get. It connects to apps like FitBit and MyFitnessPal and pays you for the points you accumulate."
Pros: You can connect a decent amount of apps and there are a few ways to earn points whether through surveys, shared something health related on Twitter, log food on MyFitnessPal, etc.
Cons: It does take quite a while to earn 10,000 points. I started in like August of last year and still haven't earned 10,000 points. But I am hopeful.
I will say, I have an iWatch and that helps get more steps in through Apple Health. I'm not sure how Fitbits or other fitness watches work with Apple Health or Androids if that is your phone.
Paceline
Paceline is a new one I discovered and if you are active it seems like a super easy way to earn gift cards! Sign up here and use code: WR2LGP
Don't forget to get your FREE scale and Fitbit through the Lark app.
If you know of anymore, I would love to hear about them! Please leave a comment below.
