5 Options For Having Kids

Many people would like to have kids one day, however or whenever that might happen. Other people are not entirely sure, but do have a general feeling that it’s probably something they want at some point. Or you might be completely undecided. Whatever position you are in, it’s a good idea to bear in mind that it often takes planning a lot of commitment to be able to get pregnant. Of course, some couples will find that they just luck into it, and for others there will be a simple accident and that will be that, but if you are struggling to have children then you might want to start looking into what other options there are. Thankfully, there are many, so you will not have to feel that there is nothing that can be done. Let’s take a look at the most common options.

Intrauterine Insemination

If you have not heard of this before, you are not alone. But it is actually quite a common method which has been known to work for many couples. In intrauterine insemination, the sperm is washed, concentrated and placed into the uterus directly. On the whole, it is one of the more simple kinds of infertility treatment out there. There are many reasons that you might want to go for this method. Often, it is the go-to method when there is not a clear cause of the infertility, and that’s why you might be recommended this first and foremost before other, more complex methods.

It is also a helpful method when the overlying issue is with the male counterpart, such as low motility. That’s because it is a way of concentrating the best sperm. So if there is a finding that the male has a fertility problem, but only a slight one, this might be something that you want to consider. Likewise, if there is a cervical factor involved in the infertility, such as mucus which is too thick for the sperm to get through, this can help, as the sperm is being inserted directly.

Fertility Drugs

In many parts of the world, one of the first recommendations a doctor will make will be to take any of a range of fertility drugs. There are many of these which you might want to consider, and they can be taken in pill form or injected, and they provide a range of benefits and changes which can really help with couples struggling to have a baby. Often, these drugs will release hormones that help in egg production, sperm production, and making the uterus more receptive to sperm. These drugs tend to work around fifty percent of the time, so it really is a gamble, but it is something that is worth considering if you are keen on trying to become pregnant. Either way, it’s a good first or second port of call.

IVF

If you say fertility to most people, they will generally think of IVF. It is easily one of the most well-known and respected methods out there for fertility help, and with good reason. It has a higher success rate than many other methods, and it is being used by more and more couples throughout the world every year. It’s come a long way from its origins where it was considered a mysterious thing to attempt. So what is it that is good about it, and why does it tend to work so well?

In In-Vitro Fertilization, the eggs and sperm are combined outside of the body in a laboratory. Once an embryo is formed, it is then placed in the womb. While only around 5% of couples seek out this kind of fertilization, it is very effective for those that do, having been effective in producing around 200,000 babies in the past 30 or so years. One of the main reasons that so few people seek it out is because it has a reputation of being too expensive to afford for the average person. However, as time goes on, there are more and more affordable IVF options out there to consider - so you could be able to make use of this method more easily than you might think.

Removing The Factor of Stress

It is amazing what stress and pressure can do. Many couples find that they are having trouble having kids for a long time, only to find that they suddenly become successful once they have let go of the idea somewhat. For a lot of people, the stress factor ends up stopping them being able to have children for a long time. Stress can do some incredible things to the body, including making you less fertile. Of course, this can be a negative cycle to be in, as you can find yourself getting stressed about that, and so the cycle continues. You need to therefore try and beat the stress at its source as best as you can.

There are many ways to do that. A lot of couples find that they have more luck with getting pregnant if they turn to yoga or meditation first for a while, or even something like acupuncture. All in all, it is definitely a good idea to change your lifestyle so that you are less stressed, and that is only going to help in some way, so it’s something you should think about. You might find that reducing or removing stress was all you really needed to do.

Surrogacy

Of course, when other options fail there is always the possibility of using a surrogate, which is where someone else has the baby for you and then you raise it. These days there are plenty of trustworthy agencies out there which can help you to find a good, reliable surrogate, so it is safer than ever to use that method. It’s not without its problems, but it is a worthwhile consideration if you are thinking about trying to have a baby and you don’t have other options.

  1. I love this article!! You explained everything like a professional doctor!! I know that STRESS can determine if these procedures will work effectively or not! If I couldn’t have a baby, I would try whatever method I could to conceive, because I always wanted to feel my baby growing in me and to experience giving birth! It is a miracle that science has come this far! I mean, I have even heard of daughter’s mother’s carrying their own grandkids. Plus I have also read that some women having their baby or babies by surrogacy so they don’t ruin their figures etc. Also I have read about women freezing their eggs for when they are ready to have a baby. if I couldn’t have a baby, I was definitely going to adopt. I could love another’s baby as my own! This was pin worthy. Thank you for sharing!
