Moving soon? SO many people are! If you are one of those people, I bet you are getting so excited, but if you have kids, you might be getting nervous. What are you supposed to do with them while you pack? How will they take the move (especially if it is to a new town), and how can you make it as stress-free as possible? Don’t worry - I am here to answer your questions! When we moved, I was really worried about how things would go, but with a few tricks and tips, I survived, and I know you will too. Here are a few ways to make your move with kids easier:
Get your kids involved
Moving is a daunting task, and you will need all the help you can get. Having your kids help out by doing smaller tasks can be very useful to you and can also help them feel as if they are involved in the process rather than just being subjected to it. For younger kids, have them do tasks like hand items to you as you pack a box. For older kids, have them help to pack their rooms or even help you carry things out to the moving truck. Allow your kids to unpack their own rooms if they would like to. You will be grateful for the extra set(s) of hands!
Think about hiring a sitter for the day (or for multiple days)
While getting your kids to help with the moving process can be fun for the whole family, there are sometimes when it would be more efficient to have someone else watch the kids. Particularly with younger children, it can be difficult to accomplish all that you need to get done before, during, and after moving while also making sure those crazy kiddos stay alive while they run around like wild turkeys. Have your kids help where they can, to allow them to feel that they are part of the process and decision-making, but also don’t feel bad if you need some kid-free time to get the heavy duty work out of the way.
Visit and explore your new city
Moving can be hard on kids, particularly if you are moving to a new town or area. To ease the burden of being in a new place on both you and your kids, take a family outing to explore everything new and exciting, and begin creating good and fun memories. Sometimes kids need to know that their life will still be as great in the new home as it was in the old home to feel better about moving. Exploring your town with your family will make the transition to a new home smoother and filled with positive memories rather than negative ones.
Lean on professionals, like Page Relocation
Last but not least, hire movers! Sure, doing so will cost you some money, but it is well worth it - with or without kids. Movers, such as Page Relocation can significantly make the process of moving much easier, no matter if you are doing a residential move, or if you need office movers in Atlanta. Moving with kids is challenging, to say the least. However, Page Relocation can make it so much easier and less time consuming for your entire family. Page Relocation is based out of Canton and Atlanta, Georgia, but they travel all over the state and even to other states, as well, for long-distance moving.
