Safe & Lovely Halloween Outfit Ideas For Children

Halloween is a great time of year, and it’s very nearly here. While not every country in the world celebrates it as aggressively as others, it’s important to note that many do. For a child, this time of year can be quite scary. Not quite understanding if your Jack’o’ lantern pumpkin is actually warding off evil spirits or not, wondering why there are cobwebs and many other odd decorations around the house and the scary costumes everyone wears can be a little disorienting at first. We may even remember feeling this way ourselves.

That being said, it’s important to allow them to engage in these festivities and to help them celebrate this time with others. Trick or treating can be a great part of that, but in order to settle their fears it may be that eschewing the scary outfits that adults wear and allowing them a time to simply dress up and have fun is important.

In the following words, we hope to explore a list of wonderful and safe Halloween outfit ideas for children. You’ll likely be very surprised as to the results:

Beautiful, Functional Costumes from Little Adventures + Giveaway

My kiddos love playing pretend. And I love watching them use their imaginations. I have mentioned this many times before. And what I love the most since Halloween is coming up that I know that any costume I get them will get a ton of use. We save our costumes and use them for "dress up" or "pretend play". It is a great way for them to explore through imagination and can help them express their feelings as well.

Which means I need it to hold up to anything especially the washing machine. Over Labor Day weekend we went to Dragon*Con and my daughter dressed up as her version of Mal from Descendants. Thanks to the help from Little Adventures and their Sea Witch dress.

Easy, Interactive Halloween Costumes from Flappysuits + Giveaway

In our house, September means getting ready for Halloween! It is one of my favorite holidays, if not my favorite. I love dressing up and decorating, creating spooky recipes for the kids, or watching family-friendly scary movies, but I love that there isn't all the pressure that tends to come with Christmas. This year my kiddos didn't know what they wanted to dress up as for Halloween, so when I was asked to try out Flappy suits, I thought what a great opportunity to let my kids choose what they want to be.

Flappy suits have secret airbags built into the costume, which cause different parts of the costume to magically move! They’re great for Halloween costume parties and slumber parties. They have a variety of flappy suit animals to choose from.

Easy DIY Lorax Shirt to Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday & Read Across America Day

Every year my son has had a Dr. Seuss parade at his school every year to celebrate Read Across America Day. The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! Incorporate these guides and activities to celebrate reading with young people.

Easy DIY Lorax Costume

With my daughter, my mother-in-law made a "Cat In The Hat" embroidered shirt that was pink, but with my son I didn't want to bother her so I thought I would try something homemade and easy since that's how I roll.

Halloween Dress Ups and Gift Ideas from Little Adventures

YAY! It's finally October! Which means I can officially put up all of the Halloween decorations! The kids are SO excited about Halloween that they have already picked out their costumes! We save our costumes and use them for "dress up" or "pretend play". It is a great way for them to explore through imagination and can help them express their feelings as well.

I was introduced to Little Adventures last summer. I seriously feel in love with the company. Little Adventures sells soft, washable, affordable dress ups. The company was started 15 years ago by two moms who were tired of itchy, scratchy dress ups that fell apart and were not washable. They wanted dress up clothing that children could wear outside, take naps in, or even wear to the grocery store!

Exploring Through Pretend Play with Little Adventures

It has been a very rainy summer so far here in Georgia. And we have been spending more time indoors than I would personally like to. But we have been making the best of it and have been finding some fun indoor activities to do. We have been playing with a lot of play-doh, coloring, other crafts, and of course playing dress up. We love "dress up" or "pretend play" in our house. It is a great way for them to explore through imagination and can help them express their feelings as well.
