Wednesday, June 29, 2022
Starting your journey as a new parent you know in your mind that you will be
spending a lot of time in that nursery once the baby arrives. All the cuddling and
swaddling will happen in that room along with sweet blissful moments that are
going to act as a core memory as you grow old.
Decorating the nursery is a sweet process that most parents look forward to.
They envision their child's life standing in that room and doing the small things
that a baby is not able to do. Thinking about all these things makes a parent
want to go over the moon for their child and decorate the room in a manner that
is going to be remembered by them forever.
Brainstorming ideas: You and your partner can put yourselves to the test and
start thinking of unique ways in which you can decorate the baby’s room while
keeping some of the most essential items in mind: temporary peel and stickwallpaper.
The fame of peel and stick wallpaper:
Peel and stick wallpaper has made an incredible comeback in the market
in the past few years. There are many people out there who can vouch for
a good peel-and-stick wallpaper.

Tips for the Perfect Night Time Routine {Introducing The Fresh Air Crib Liner™ by SootheTime & Giveaway!}
Wednesday, August 13, 2014
I am participating in this campaign as a member of The Niche Parent Network & Conference. Although I received compensation and product, all opinions are my own.
I am a firm believer in a night time routine. It helps little ones adjust from day to night, they know what to expect, and helps them wind down for the day. Setting up the perfect routine for your family takes some time and adjustment as each child and their needs are different. This is what works for my family, but it may be different for yours.
1. Establish a bed TIME. SweetPea's bed time has always been around 8:30 p.m. But Peanut needs to go down a little earlier or he gets super grumpy. He is usually very go with the flow, but he has a better night if he goes down to sleep about 8 p.m. Then he will wake up at 10 p.m. to nurse again and then he's down for the night.
2. Set Up a Routine. Bath, Nurse, Book, Rock, Bed. That's ours. We don't do bath every night, but he has some kind of "cleaning", whether it's a sponge bath or a nice lotion massage. Then I make sure he gets a full belly, but not right before he lays down and always make sure he burps. We usually read a book with his big sister, then I rock him where he is in that happy in between state of completely asleep and awake so he can soothe himself to sleep. Providing a routine is wonderful because if you will have to put your baby to bed later than they are use to, they have learned what to expect next.
3. Safe, Cozy Bed. Now that he is in his crib, I make sure his bed is cool, but not cold. Cozy, but breathable. Creating a safe space and comfortable for my baby to sleep has been easier with the Fresh Air Crib Liner ™ by SootheTIME.

Bringing Home Baby: Preparing the Nursery & Registering
Friday, January 24, 2014
Welcome back to our weekly series! This week we are discussing preparing the nursery and registering. At 32 weeks preggo, I am just starting to actually get the nursery together. With that comes registering. I just registered. Online only. Mainly because I just found out that I was having showers. With SweetPea, I started registering as soon as I found out we were pregnant and even did walk through of the stores. I had received a ton of things as hand-me-downs, but knew we needed a ton more. The funny thing about registries is, no one seems to buy from them. There are those few people who do. And then there are those gifts that aren't on your registry, but they are so wonderful for different reasons. With SweetPea, everyone bought us clothes. I had received a ton of hand-me-downs from my former boss and although it was nice to have new stuff for her, we were over whelmed with the amount of clothes we had that she wore some things only once and some things not at all. That's one of the many reasons I'm excited about not finding out the sex of this baby before delivery. There are so many things we need again (because we got hand-me-downs the first time around, so although they made it through 3 babies, they weren't going to make it through a 4th) that don't have to be gender specific. Diapers, Lotions, Soaps, Wipes, etc. Plus I did register for some bigger ticket items that I am not expecting anyone to get us, like a new camera, a double stroller, a travel swing, and a Shark vacuum.
I honestly didn't think I would be getting a baby shower because this is my second baby and some people keep telling me I shouldn't because there isn't anything to buy since they don't know the sex (I think they are trying to guilt me in to finding out). But my husband's cousin asked about throwing us one because as she said "Every baby deserves to be celebrated". I thought that was just beautiful. And I am excited about the shower. She found these very cute neutral invitations on etsy (I don't know the shop).
The other great thing about registering is the free gifts you get! I registered at Babies-R-Us and Target where I received some AWESOME little gift packages. The best so far was actually from Motherhood Maternity though.
Since we aren't finding out the sex before hand, preparing the nursery means something different for me. We haven't been decorating like we did with my daughter (although we didn't go all out with hers because we were on a VERY limited income at the time).

Preparing the nursery this time means shopping sales to stock up on diapers or getting essential items for review to blog about as income. Some of my favorites so far have been my Graco Jogger that included a Graco SnugRide Click Connect™ 35 Infant Car Seat (car seat is ALWAYS a good thing to get NEW with each baby for safety reasons), a sound machine, the Graco Little Lounger (rocker/bassinet), a baby food maker (although we use it for smoothies & pouches for SweetPea now), and a good carrier. Some of the things are already being used like the Talk & Soothe Digital Video Monitor. It has come in handy when I've wanted to spy on my daughter. ;)
A few things I think you should remember going into making your registry and completely your nursery:
1. Not everyone likes registries.
2. You aren't going to get everything you registered for (that's where gift cards come in handy).
3. And you will be grateful for EVERYTHING you get. Regardless on registry or not. Promise.

Sweet Pea's [Nearly] Completed Nursery: Pink & Brown Polkadots
Saturday, November 20, 2010
Wooden Letters were made by my step-mom.
And the tulle balls hanging were from Sweet Pea's shower and my MIL's idea to hang them in her room.
The reason it's only nearly finished is because her curtains aren't hung and her homemade mobile isn't hung yet either.
Sweet Pea's bed is ready for her arrival! ;)
Although we have a bassinet set up in our room.
And the diaper stockpile ready for Sweet Pea's rear end. ;)

So at the doctor they said if she decided to come they wouldn't stop her. I want her to come when she's ready although I'm hoping she comes a little early because I'm miserable. We finished her nursery today I'll post pictures tomorrow. :) Here's how baby is doing:
Been looking into labor and breast feeding a lot. I hope she's able to do it. I'm trying to go into everything realistically. I don't really have a birth plan except I DO want an epidural and I DON'T want a c-section unless absolutely necessary. And I want to breast feed but I realize that for one reason or another we may not be able to. But I'm going to try my best to stick with it and hope for the best.
When I went to the doctor they put me on bed rest and mentioned Toxemia/pre-eclampsia. So I started doing a little research on it. Here seem to be the symptoms of Toxemia(the ones with the check marks are the ones I have): elevated blood pressure ✓ , protein in the urine (find out Monday), bloating of the hands ✓ , feet ✓ and face ✓ due to fluid retention, and hyper-reflexia. And here are the ones of Pre-Eclampsia: high blood pressure ✓ , protein in urine (find out Monday), water retention ✓ , fatigue ✓ , abdominal pain ✓ , headaches, nausea, the inability to tolerate light that is bright ✓ , blurred vision ✓-sometimes, shortness of breath ✓-sometimes, and infrequent urination. So I'm a little nervous about the results for Mondays appointment. But we'll see. Apparently they usually induce or tell you just to stay on bed rest depending on how bad it is. Please keep us in your thoughts.
Ok that's it for now. I still don't have my thank you cards done but I did make a big dent in them. :)

I also found out this week that my last day of work is Nov. 19th. I'm very sad. But atleast I have something wonderful to look forward to.

So I am very excited to announce we are officially registering tomorrow. As in, we are actually going to Target and making sure we have everything we need on the registry. I've registered for a few things online, in fact, I registered for a 4-in-1 convertible crib, two changing tables(why 2, I have no idea), a dresser, and a glider with ottoman and someone bought them! (1)My MIL got a changing table and crib with a mattress for around $150 from a consignment shop but if it turns out someone did buy the others, I'd like to keep the new ones so they can be a whole set, plus they are cherry and wouldn't match. The thing is, I have no idea who would have done such a nice and generous thing. Not saying I don't know people who would want to do something like that, it's just the combination of having the money to do it too. lol If my MIL doesn't want to keep the crib/changing table we can sell it to this up and coming consignment shop that is so cute and looking for more stuff to sell, it's called: Once Again Consignment Boutique. But we will see what to do after we have the showers. This whole idea was per my MIL, just so everyone knows.
So far we have a few things already. My MIL bought me this awesome stroller that fits the car seat my boss gave me perfectly, it's the kind of stroller that the car seat goes into but when they get older it is also a regular stroller. I think it's called a travel system. (2)We also have 8 AVENT naturally bottles my boss gave me. These sell for $12 brand new. As you can see they need new nipples. We have a swing that my boss gave us and I checked it tonight and it works!!! :] (3)We also have a ton of 0-3 month clothing that will be in season for her when she comes. I need to check out what I have for 3-6 months but I know I have a good amount of that too. I just don't know if it's in season and the condition of it. I have a car seat with two bases and a bouncer my boss gave me, baby monitors my aunt gave me, and a bassinet my MIL bought me. So I'm very excited.
(4)We have also picked out her nursery design. It's pink and brown polk-a-dots. They sell it at Babies-R-Us for $199 but we GOT it from Katia's Kloset Consignment Boutique for only $99. It's a 9 piece set which includes: Comforter, Bumper, Fitted Sheet, Skirt, 2 Window Valances, Diaper Stacker, Toy Bag, and Decorative Pillow. As you can see the crib and changing table in the picture is cherry and the paint is the same color her room already is, so everything will match PEFECTLY! :] My MIL knows the owner, that's how she found it!
I'm so grateful for everything my MIL has done for us. She has been so amazing and I don't know what I would do without her.
I'm so very excited for this baby to come and getting the nursery ready for her. I worked alot on clearing out the room for her this weekend. I think we might want to invest in a ceiling fan for that room earlier because it gets HOT working in there. I can't wait for the showers! I know my mom, sister, & aunt(in Buford) are throwing me one and my MIL & Sisters-in-law (in McDonough) are also throwing me one. If you want to come to one or the other, go over to facebook and send me message with your address letting me know which one. I don't know if my dad's side is throwing me one. I guess I'll find out Saturday at the family reunion.
I think that's about it for this post. I'll post more updates soon! :]
To Do List Week 2

You can click on the image to view it larger.
Ok so I didn't get around to calling the exterminator to get a contract on the house. I have had a LOT going on and that was the last thing on my mind.
BUT my goal for this week is to straighten up the office. This is going to be Sweet Pea's nursery but before we can move anything out, as you can see, we need to clear up the little things. We will be moving the desk and large bookshelf into our bedroom. The TV into the spare bedroom. And we will also need to get a ceiling fan installed (to reduce the risk of SIDS). As you can see we also need new blinds too. lol But that will all have to wait until later because as of right now I'm going to have my hands full trying to sort through all this junk.
I was watching that show hoarders and it made me want to do this SO BAD! So maybe I will actually get on top of it. :]
On another note, I need a new camera. Mine is officially broken. It won't even turn on! So before baby Sweet Pea gets here, I'm definitely going to have to get one.
