The Best Strategies for Kids Who Have Trouble Sleeping
Tuesday, May 30, 2023
The amount of sleep kids should get depends on their age. For infants under one, between twelve and sixteen hours are required for optimal growth. Children between one and five need between ten and fourteen hours of continuous sleep, while for those between six and twelve, the time decreases a little to nine to twelve hours. In the case of teenagers aged between thirteen and eighteen, the amount of sleep they should get is similar to that of adults, so between eight and ten hours each night.
However, some children might struggle to fall asleep, so they will be awake until the very late hours of the night. Here are some things you can do in order to help mediate this issue.
Tips to Get More Quality, Natural Sleep
Monday, August 15, 2022
Ah sleep. It is essential for an overall well-being. Once my husband and I started tracking our sleep, it really opened my eyes into my essential missing elements in my healthy lifestyle journey. Life the past 18 months has been crazy. Making sure you get quality sleep is of the upmost importance. Quality sleep improves anxiety, reduces stress levels, and involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is actually linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. Besides a nice mood boost, getting regular quality sleep can improve brain function and even help in weight control.

Babies are known for not being able to sleep very well. However, most babies grow out of this habit as they become toddlers and young children. Nevertheless, your child still might have some sleeping issues as they grow up. It's not wildly uncommon to see children aged 3-5 struggling with their sleep, leading to days full of tiredness and some pretty bleak nights. So, how do you help a child that's struggling to sleep? Here's a three-step process that you can try:
4 Components of a Great Nights Sleep
Wednesday, June 3, 2020
A good night’s sleep can be hard to have when you tend to have a hectic daily schedule. Work, family, and life, in general, can all contribute to an overactive day, and thus poor-quality sleep at night. Furthermore, the consequences of consistently poor sleep can include higher levels of stress and feelings of being overwhelmed, which will only make your days even more hectic.
To break that cycle, it is essential to place emphasis on getting a good night’s sleep. You can take proactive steps to increase the quantity and improve the quality of sleep that you get each night by incorporating these four components of a great night’s sleep.
Making Bedtime a Little Easier with Disney
Monday, August 27, 2018
My son is one of those kiddos that fights sleep. We have a schedule set for him, make sure he is very active during the day, if he takes a nap - we make sure it isn't too long, and we have cut out sugary drinks for dinner, but my son still fights sleep.
Parents agree that putting kids to bed can be stressful, and a recent study showed that 77 percent of parents are exhausted by the process of getting their children to bed[1]. Beginning today, families and fans can add a little Disney magic into the bedtime routine with the new Disney store’s Sleep Shop Hotline*. The toll-free number, 1-877-7-MICKEY, has five special messages from Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy to give kids something to look forward to at bedtime. The phone number will run from today through August 31 and is available throughout the United States and Canada.

Cozy Comfort for Little Ones with DockATot
Friday, March 9, 2018
My son transitioned to a big boy bed last year. He originally loved it, but now that it has time to settle, I think he was scared to get out of it initially because now he will not stay in it. He has been trying to sneak back into our bed and he will even try to sleep in the closet right outside our bedroom door. He has always been snugly sleeper and I think he just doesn't feel the snuggly comfort he craves in his big bed. I thought that by creating a comforting sleep space, then it might help him adjust a little better.
I have heard about the DockATot™ brand for a while now. I knew they had DockATot™ Deluxe which was designed for babies aged 0 to 8 months old or 5-22Ibs. so they can have a safe place to rest, lounge, play, cuddle, do tummy time and even get diaper changes, but they do have a larger version as well. The DockATot Grand is the stage 2 version and it was designed for babies age 9 to 36 months or 22-40lbs. It has been nice having this for him because it seems to be giving him a sense of security that he wasn't feeling before.
The Importance of Healthy Sleep and How to Get More
Friday, November 10, 2017
As moms, we feel that sleep is a luxury. But the reality? It is a necessity. Without proper sleep it can affect your entire body not just your mind. Even when you think you are getting the proper amount of sleep, you may not be getting the right kind of sleep.
There are four stages to healthy sleep:
The Perfect Mattress for Pregnant Women
Monday, May 22, 2017
Pregnancy is a beautiful, miraculous occurrence, but let’s face it: it’s also extremely uncomfortable at times. From swollen feet to morning sickness and everything in between, carrying a child is certainly no picnic. According to the Sleep Foundation, “78% of women report more disturbed sleep during pregnancy than at other times.” It can be difficult enough to sleep while pregnant, and the last thing you need is your mattress adding to your discomfort and inability to sleep. Memory foam mattresses as well as heated mattresses provide many benefits for women during their nine months of pregnancy and beyond. Consider investing in supportive and comfortable OMF Mattresses for optimal rest and relaxation.

Adjusting to a "Big Boy" Bed Comfortably Thanks to Eight Sleep
Wednesday, April 19, 2017
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that we moved my son into his "big boy" bed. He was in a small toddler bed that has a mattress with next to no support. I love how his bed came together. The head and foot boards my mother-in-law bought at a yard sale, my sister-in-law gave us the box spring, we bought the bed rails and bed slats off Amazon, my mom bought his bedding for his birthday, and the mattress I was fortunate to get to review from Eight Sleep.
I have been intrigued about ordering a mattress that comes in a box for a while now. How does it unroll? Is it comfortable? Is it too soft and not firm? Will it actually be big enough for the bed? That last question was actually my first thought when we were unboxing this mattress. The box didn't seem like it was going to be able to hold a mattress that would fit his bed. You can see an unboxing video below of how it expands once opened.

#BabySafetyMonth Safe Sleep Tips from MAM + Giveaway
Monday, September 26, 2016
September is Baby Safety Month, sponsored annually by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). This month-long event increases consumer awareness of baby safety issues and the safe selection and use of baby products. For the past 40 years MAM’s top priority has been the development of products for the well-being, safety and health of babies that make life easier for parents and allow them to focus on the joy of family.
Safe sleep ranks at the top of every parent’s list of worries with SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) the leading cause of death in infants between 1 month and 1 year of age. Each year, about 4,000 infants die unexpectedly during sleep time, from SIDS, accidental suffocation, or unknown causes. By providing infants with a safe sleep environment it is possible to help reduce the risk of SIDS.
